The Night Strike Night Vision Monocular by N-Vision is a compact monocular with a (2.5X) magnification designed to be used as a handheld device, or mounted to a weapon or camcorder for low light or nighttime operations. It is powered by a single (CR123A) lithium battery and comes equipped with an internal infrared illuminator to assist with short-range tasks in total darkness.

The Night Strike is simple to operate and constructed of a very durable plastic housing designed to be used in all weather conditions. The metal weapon mount can be quickly installed to a standard Picatinny rail without the use of additional tools. The mount contains a push button release, making it easy to remove or install when needed. There were two eye caps included; one was an open eye cap and the other, a pressure operated eye cap, which eliminated the exterior glow during operation. The device contained a single push button power switch, which activated both the monocular and infrared illuminator and two manual focus adjustment rings.

I was very impressed with the design and resolution of the Night Strike. I found using it as a hand-held device in a stationary position worked best. I used it in conjunction with an EOTech tactical sight on an M-4, but found it difficult to move without constantly stopping and manually focusing the device. I had the same problems while using it equipped with the camcorder attachment. Overall, I would recommend the Night Strike based on the quality of construction, easy of use and superior detail resolution.

I had an opportunity to test the N-Vision Optics “Night Strike” night vision monocular (Generation 3 Delta), with 2.5x magnification. The unit was provided with a hip case and weapon mount as well as a camera adapter ring and eye guard. I was able to test the unit in both urban and rural areas and under full moon, moonless and cloudy weather conditions. The unit is simple to operate with only one switch that turns the unit on and off, as well as turning on and off the IR illuminator by holding it down a few seconds. It is powered by one CR-123 3volt battery, the same as most of our flashlights. The ocular end has a diopter adjustment and the focus is on the objective end. As viewed through the monocular there is a low battery indicator and an IR “on” indicator. The unit is equipped with an auto brightness control (ABC) that worked well when used in the urban environment. I had no trouble looking at lit store fronts and then into dark alleyways. The ABC made seamless transitions between the different light environments I also put the unit on an M4 behind a “HOLO sight” and again it worked very well!

Until now I have only used ITT and SimRad night vision products. I have had a lot of experience with a few different ITT units including their 6015 Night Enforcer, which is similar to the N–Vision unit.

I would say that this product was well made and high quality. It worked well in all conditions and various kinds of nighttime environments.
